Hobbies/Interest: Hiking, Animals, Nature, Traveling, HGTV
Past life:  I was a medical scribe and preliminary coder at my local ED for 2 years. Then, before PA school started, my boyfriend and I quit our jobs and traveled the US and western Canada while living out of a minivan. 10/10 would recommend!
Academic Interest: Trauma, Critical Care, Wilderness Medicine.
Favorite activities in New Haven: Riding up to Hamden for a hike in Sleeping Giant State Park or a QU/Yale hockey game.
Why Yale’s Emergency Medicine Program: Yale is the only Trauma I hospital in the state of CT and is a world-renowned institution. Where best to learn than from some of the world’s top practitioners?
Random factoid:  My mother is an ED PA and started practicing in 1980. She is my inspiration for my career path and was the one who sparked my interest and passion in medicine.

Past life: Former high school science educator & sports coach of Ivy League accepted students and All-American athletes

Favorite activities in New Haven: Volleyball
Why Yale’s Emergency Medicine Program: The EM program at Yale offers unique opportunities I would otherwise not have the option to explore. The collaboration with the Simulation center and community youth is particularly interesting to me.

 

Dan Goldberg

Hometown: I have lived in Anchorage, Alaska for the past 9 years, but I was born and raised in Westport, CT.
College, Medical School, other Schools (include degrees earned):
Cornell University
University of Washington MEDEX PA Program based in Anchorage, Alaska
Hobbies/Interest: Mountain biking, hiking, backcountry and downhill skiing, cooking, ultimate frisbee, and so much more!
Past life: I have a degree in environmental engineering, I worked as a wetland and wildlife biologist in Alaska for 4 years, I’ve also held numerous odd jobs from cooking pizza in a restaurant to working at a hydroponic vegetable farm.
Academic Interest: At the moment, pretty focussed on emergency medicine in general!
Favorite activities in New Haven: Well, I haven’t been there since I was a kid. But I have good memories of going to concerts at Toad’s Place when I was in High School.
Why Yale’s Emergency Medicine Program: To join a world class institution and be surrounded by motivated academic leaders in their respective fields. Also, this is an opportunity to be near my family in CT and NY for a period.
Random factoid: I have a 6 pound cat named Jelly Sandwich and I have a camper-converted bus in New Mexico named Oliver.
