Why Yale’s Emergency Medicine Program: Yale’s program offers a great experience in various areas of medicine. During my interview, I truly felt the commitment and sense of community here. Yale also allows me to be in a new city while still being just a short drive to where my family is in both New York and Boston.

Academic Interest: EMS, Critical Care/ICU, austere medicine (Aerospace, Wilderness, Disaster Response)

Favorite activities in New Haven: Sampling the numerous New Haven apizza joints and exploring local trails and beaches.

Why Yale’s Emergency Medicine Program: Yale offers a unique opportunity to learn from world-class providers while working alongside and being held to the same standard as PGY-1/PGY-2 medical residents. The variety of emergency department settings and off-service rotations, opportunity to step into an academic role with the university, and the diverse community of New Haven were all major draws. The clinical rotation in EMS was a bonus, and the positive feedback from current/past residents and positive, supportive energy from the program directors and senior staff assured me that Yale was the place I wanted to be.

Random factoid: Myself and my three siblings are all Eagle Scouts.

Favorite activities in New Haven: My favorite thing to do in New Haven is eating at all the different restaurants, but I am new to the area, so I am excited to explore the city and see what it has to offer!

Why Yale’s Emergency Medicine Program: I was drawn to the Yale APP EM program because it offered training for all levels of patient acuity, as well as multiple off service rotations, including pediatrics. The residents and faculty I interacted with on interview day all seemed to be very happy, genuine, and had a passion for teaching medicine. Being located in the Northeast and having close proximity to family and friends sealed the deal for me!
